The story of Elspeth was captivating and very unique. A creative magic system with a lot of different characters who wants to have all the cards.
Loved it so much and I couldn't put the book away.

The way this book absolutely destroyed me and put me back together. Everything tied up so perfectly in the end, but it still made me SOB. Nightmare and Elspeth’s bond was one I didn’t realize I would love so much. Elm didn’t surprise me at all with his growth and I’m so happy he got justice and balance in the end. So much to say about this book but overall, I loved this duology. The two books had so much symbolism that it should have been no surprise when things came to light in the end. Truly a 5/5 star book.

This book is amazing. It has everything. A kick ass magic system, beautiful writing, characters I love and characters I love to hate (violently). I just!!!! I have no words! I need the second book expeditiously and I am so upset I don’t have it currently. Rip.

I absolutely loved this book of dark magic and characters. The author did a phenomenal job of character & world building. I felt I was in the story and I got to know the characters myself. Some things you figure out yourself but are still questioning and wanting to know more and read on. Can’t wait to read the next one!!

This book is the reason why fantasy lives on. The story is so original, it is written with such perfection. Each one of the characters are written flawlessly. You could fall in love over and over again, with each and every one of them. The world build is so vivid, and the author does an amazing job, helping you see it. The story line is outstanding, the author apparently has an amazing imagination, the story is just so unpredictable. Giving this book 5 stars is definitely an understatement.

Wow. I did not want this story to end and wish I could go back and read this duology for the first time again! I fell in love with all the characters, their relationships, and especially love the relationship between Elspeth and the Nightmare - all their snarky comments. I enjoyed how the author wove everything together and uncovered things that were hinted at in the first book. Loved the ending! What will I do with myself now?!
